TV anytime

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TV-Anytime is an open technical standard for the preparation and transmission of metadata in digital television networks for the purpose of the automated recording of television programs (for example on a personal digital recorder (PDR)). In addition to the correct spelling TV-Anytime (with a hyphen), the deviating spellings TV Anytime or TV_Anytime or TVA for short can also be found . The central element of the TVA standard is the so-called Content Reference Identifier (CRID).

Working principle

A CRID, which can be displayed as a link in the Electronic Program Guide of a PDR, for example, is selected by the viewer. The hierarchically structured "Content Resolution Process" is then started in the PDR, at the end of which a "Locator" is output. This locator contains the data for programming a recording timer. This representation is very much simplified and only refers to the simple case of a “Program CRID”. The particular strength of TVA lies in the automated recording of television series with the help of so-called "Series CRIDs".
