Serikbai Turymov

Serikbai Ötelgenuly Turymow ( Kazakh Серікбай Өтелгенұлы Тұрымов , Russian Серикбай Утелгенович Трумов Serikbai Utelgenowitsch Trumow ; * 3. June 1964 in Fort-Shevchenko , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician . He has been governor of the Mangghystau region since June 2019 .

Life

Serikbai Turymow was born in 1964 in Fort Shevchenko in Mangistau Oblast . He studied at the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute in Alma-Ata , where he graduated as a civil engineer in 1992.

Turymov began his career as a worker at the Mangyschlakselstroi-12 company, for which he worked from 1981 to 1990. He then worked in various positions up to the first secretary of the Leninist Communist Youth Union of Kazakhstan in his hometown of Fort Shevchenko. From 1994 to 1995 he worked for the administration of the Tupqaraghan district before he then worked for the TOO Tupqaraghan company for many years. From November 2004, he held political office for the first time as Äkim of the Tupqaraghan district. He held this position for two years. From November 2006 to November 2008 Turymow was deputy Äkim (governor) of the Mangghystau area and then again Äkim of the Tupqaraghan district. After a result of the violent protests in Zhanaozen , the mayor of the city, Oraq Sarböpejew was dismissed, the Kazakh government Turymow set as the new mayor of Zhanaozen one. On July 10, 2015, he was appointed mayor of the city of Aktau . From November 2017 he was a member of the regional parliament of the Mangghystau region.

Since June 13, 2019 he has been the Äkim of the Mangghystau region.
