Sermylassa halensis is a beetle fromthe leaf beetle family (Chrysomelidae).
features
The beetles reach a length of 5–7 mm. The head, legs and pronotum are yellow-orange. The tarsi are dark in color. The elytra and the back of the head of Sermylassa halensis are shiny metallic in the colors blue, green or, less often, copper. The pronotum has two depressions. The shoulder bump is clearly visible.
distribution
Sermylassa halensis is the only species of its genus that occurs in Europe. The species is widespread in Europe. It occurs in the British Isles and in southern Scandinavia. In the east it occurs as far as the Urals.
Way of life
The beetles fly from July to September. They are found at the edges of the forest, often on bedstraws ( Galium ).
