Life

Serries von Schedelich came from the Westphalian castle man family Schedelich , who had their seat in the Osthoff manor for six generations . For a long time it provided the castle men in Hausdülmen . Sergius was the son of Jaspar von Schedelich zu Osthoff and his wife Katharina von Heiden zu Hagenbeck. His brother Caspar († 1570) was a canon in Münster. On September 29, 1566 Sergius became canon in Münster. He remained in the possession of the benefice until the end of the year and married Ottonia Droste zu Vischering . The daughter Anna came from the marriage and was married to Johann von Gahr. In the archive “Tatenhausen, Haus Osthoff” there is an exchange contract between Serries von Schedelich zu Osthof and the administrators of the Holy Spirit poor house in Dülmen from the year 1578. It was about the exchange of parcels in Osthofer Esch and Dülmener Esch. Serries was killed in a tragic hunting accident. With his death, the Schedelich family died out in the male line.
