Servicios Ferroviarios del Chaco , better known under the abbreviation SEFECHA , is an Argentine railway company that serves medium- haul and suburban passenger routes (Greater Resistencia ) in the province of Chaco .

history

After the state railway company was privatized in 1993, the lines remained idle for a time until they were taken over by SEFECHA in 1996. The company is financed by the provincial government, but in contrast to the other railway lines, it does not receive any funds from the Argentine federal government. Since the company was founded, it has been operating with used diesel multiple units that were taken over by the Palma City Railways.

In May 2010, the operation of the SEFECHA railway lines was taken over by Operadora Ferroviaria Sociedad del Estado (SOFSE), which is subordinate to the Argentine national government.

stretch

The suburban railway between Barranqueras and Puerto Tirol has been the only real suburban railway in Argentina outside of the greater Buenos Aires area since the railway company's privatization.
