Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area is a Connecticut conservation center in the Burlington community . The protected area focuses on environmental education and offers teaching programs for school classes and groups.
geography
The area covers an area of 700 acres (283 hectares) and has a large nature museum. The Tunxis Trail crosses the area. The closest sanctuary is the Nassahegon State Forest about 2 miles further north. Beavers have turned part of Negro Hill Brook into a swampy landscape.
fauna
The reserve offers a retreat for many animal species that can be explored on various nature trails. Occasionally, you can even spot bears . There are also white-tailed deer and beavers have shaped part of the landscape into a swamp. In the developed lowland forests are encountered Pileated Woodpecker , Scarlet Tanager , Broad-winged Hawk (broad-winged hawk, Buteo platypterus ), turkeys , collar chickens , mallards , wood ducks , Blue Heron and amphibians such as Spring Peeper ( Pseudacris crucifer ) and forest frogs .
