The flies reach a body length of about 4 millimeters. Her body is colored metallic dark blue. The mesonotum is dull in the male, shiny along the middle in the female. The legs are black, the wings brownish. The wing scale has a light eyelash bush.

Occurrence and way of life

The animals are found in Western and Central Europe. They can be found in damp forests, where they live in clearings in the bush.
