Seumas O'Kelly

Seumas O'Kelly ( Seamus O'Kelly ; * 1881 in Loughrea , † November 14, 1918 in Dublin ) was an Irish journalist and writer.

O'Kelly worked as a journalist for the United Irishman and The Connaught Leader . He later was the editor of The Southern Star and the Leinsten Leader . In 1918 he took over the management of the Sinn Féin magazine The Nationality . When supporters of Great Britain attacked the editorial office on November 14, 1918, he suffered a heart attack and died.

O'Kelly was best known as a playwright with works such as The Matchmakers , The Shuiler's Child , The Bribe , The Parnellite , Meadowsweet and Driftwood . His short story The Weaver's Grave is considered a masterpiece of the genre.
