Johannes Adam Edler von Nettinghofen (Nettekoven) (* around 1680 in Rheinbach ; † November 2, 1738 in Vienna ) was a German lawyer (Dr. jur. Utr.), Who was accepted into the Bohemian knighthood as rector of the University of Vienna and the Title of Lower Austrian Regimental Council.

Life

Nettinghofen was born in Rheinbach and grew up as the son of a Halfen family in neighboring Meckenheim . Although his father was well respected as the tenant of the electoral Kölnhof zu Meckenheim and had a certain level of prosperity, Nettinghofen’s career - measured against the social conditions of his time - was nevertheless unusual for a young man of rural origin.

After admission to the Artes Faculty of the University of Cologne and further legal studies at a previously unknown university, he came to the law faculty of the University of Vienna in 1705 . In 1728 he became dean of this faculty and in 1731 rector of the university.

On June 4, 1732 Johannes Adam Nettinghofen was raised to the Bohemian knighthood. He also held the title of Lower Austrian Regimental Council.

He remained closely connected to his hometown of Meckenheim throughout his life. Among other things, he donated a new organ to the local church in 1730 .
