The newly wed Hannah Moss travels with her husband Adam McFadden to Northern California to visit his farm. His six brothers also live there. These all have to struggle with their own difficulties: growing up, love, financial worries and many more. In addition, the small farm has to assert itself against the larger farms, which produce much faster and with less expenditure of time. In addition, the brothers compete with each other. But Hannah is quickly there in such situations and helps the brothers get along better with one another.

There is singing and dancing in the series. A musical number is shown per episode. This was written by Jimmy Webb. After a season, the series was canceled. For Richard Dean Anderson , Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was the first series to air in prime time . For River Phoenix, then 12, the series was the breakthrough in show business. His then 8-year-old brother Joaquin Phoenix had his very first TV appearance with a guest role.
