Gold stino

In particle physics , the gold stino is a hypothetical Nambu - Goldstone - Fermion with spin  1/2, which is created by spontaneous breaking of the supersymmetry . It is closely related to the Goldstone boson of the Goldstone theorem , which describes the spontaneous breakdown of ordinary boson symmetry. Like this, it is massless, unless the spontaneous refraction is accompanied by a little explicit refraction of the supersymmetry; in this case the gold stino develops a small mass.

In theories with global supersymmetry, the gold stino is a normal particle and possibly as the lightest supersymmetric particle a candidate for dark matter .

In theories in which the supersymmetry represents a local symmetry ( gauge symmetry ), the gold stino is absorbed by the gravitino . It then becomes its longitudinal component (i.e. in the direction of propagation) and gives it a non-zero mass. This mechanism is closely related to the Higgs mechanism , which gives the W and Z bosons a non-zero mass.

Rudimentary bosonic super partners of the Goldstinos, so-called Sgoldstinos , can also occur under certain circumstances when super multiplets are reduced to fields.
