Shadia Alem

Shadia 'Alem , also transcribed as Shādiyah' Ālim ( Arabic شادية عالم, DMG Šādiya ʿĀlim ; * 1960 in Mecca , Hejaz , Saudi Arabia ) is a Saudi Arabian painter and artist.

Life

'Alem has been known as an artist in Saudi Arabia since the early 1990s and has participated in various national exhibitions. Since the end of the decade, she has also exhibited in Europe and Asia.

At the 54th Biennale di Venezia 2011, she was with her sister, the author Raja Alem , in the pavilion of their first time at the Biennale in Venice participating homeland the light sculpture The Black Arch .

The painter lives in Jeddah , Saudi Arabia and Paris.
