The Shakespeare Theater Gdansk is a new theater building based on the model of the historic London Shakespeare Globe Theater , designed by the Venetian architect Renato Rizzi. The opening ceremony took place on September 19, 2014. The project has been funded by the Theatrum Gedanense Foundation since February 20, 2008. Construction work began on March 5, 2011. The establishment took place under the protectorate of the British heir to the throne Prince Charles and the literature Nobel Prize laureate Günter Grass .

The building is located on the outskirts of Gdańsk's right town, Wojciecha Bogusławskiego Street 1. The auditorium has 580 seats, 300 of which are in wooden galleries. The roof can be opened - this took place for the first time on April 23, 2014, the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare .

The building has a volume of 53,000 cubic meters, the usable area is over 12,000 square meters. The flexible construction of the stage enables the room to be redesigned according to the director's ideas. The Theatrum Gedanense Foundation organizes the International Shakespeare Festival every year. Jerzy Limon (* 1950) holds the post of theater director.
