The Shanghai Hongkou Football Stadium ( Chinese 虹口 足球場 Hóngkǒu Zúqiúchǎng ) is a multifunctional stadium in Shanghai , People's Republic of China with a capacity of 35,000 seats.
During the 5th National Games, the high jumper Zhu Jianhua set a new high jump world record here on September 22, 1983 with a height of 2.38 meters .
Football is currently the most common stadium event. In 2007 , among other things, the opening game and the final of the women's soccer world championship were played here.
The stadium was badly damaged in a fire on March 28, 2017 in the upper area behind the stands.
