The Shanghai East Hospital ( Chinese 上海 东方 医院 , Pinyin Shànghǎi Dōngfāng Yīyuàn ) is a general hospital in Pudong , Shanghai , PR China . The hospital is a teaching hospital of Tongji University .
Facilities
Shanghai East (Oriental) Hospital is a teaching hospital of Tongji University and was established in 1920. There are two campuses in Shanghai . The main campus ('Northern Division') is located at Lujiazui , Pudong, 150 Jimo Road and the south ('Southern Division') campus is located at Pudong, 1800 Yuntai Road. There are 61 clinical and technical departments and offices on both campuses. The hospital has a total of 2000 beds. The hospital's main areas of activity include medical interventions, disease prevention, medical training, and medical research. In 2019, a total of 2,800 people were employed on both campuses, including around 400 medical specialists. The hospital treats more than 3 million outpatient cases and emergencies annually, including 40,000 international patients in the affiliated Shanghai East International Medical Center . The hospital's radiology facilities include a 64-row spiral CT, Flash CT, PET-CT, 3.0 T MRI, DSA and EDGE radiosurgery system. The surgical departments have hybrid ORs, circulatory-assist devices, LINAC, ECT and real-time 3D color ultrasound available.

Student education
The Shanghai East Hospital Education Center is responsible for educating domestic students in the Bachelor of Medicine and Doctor of Medicine programs at Tongji University . For medical education, 96 tutors are available for students of the doctor of medicine and 140 tutors for students of the master's degree in medicine. Since 2010, the hospital has launched an international exchange program for medical students in cooperation with Tongji University and German doctors. The hospital offers the largest medical student exchange program in the PRC through the ' Medopolo international medical PJ and clinical traineeship program ' and receives between 80 and 100 international medical students annually.
