Shanghai Really Sports
The Shanghai Really Sports Co. LTD. is a major sports retailer in China . As of 2014, it generates annual sales of around three billion Renminbi in over 1,000 branches.
The company was founded in 1988 by Wu Jianguang and his wife and was one of the few privately held companies in what was then China with a retail and import license. On this basis, the company has meanwhile developed into one of the market leaders in China.
Merger to form the United Sportstyle Group
With the financial support of United in Sports (Luxembourg), together with three other sports retailers and the support of Robert Louis-Dreyfus, the most important sports retail group with 3,600 branches in China was to be formed in 2006 . The management initially consisted of members of the Chinese founding families, Sandrine Zerbib (former Chief Executive Officer of Adidas Greater China) and Dan Loeb (former Chief Executive Officer Nike Greater China). After all necessary contracts were negotiated in 2008 and approved by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), but business development deteriorated due to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , the alliance broke up in discussions about the size of the stake and the financial contribution of investors.
