The Shaolin Temple Austria is an association in Vienna . He belongs to the Chinese Order of Shaolin and is an offshoot of the Shaolin Temple in Henan , People's Republic of China . The mother temple in China is considered the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and is still known for the development of the martial art Shaolin Kung Fu .

The Shaolin Temple Austria Association was founded in 2011 by Grand Master Shi Yan Liang, monk and Dharma master of the Shaolin Temple in Henan. His Holiness Abbot Shi Yong Xin (head of the original Shaolin Temple in Henan) officially inaugurated the temple on October 1, 2011. Shaolin Temple Austria is the legal entity of the Shaolin Cultural Association based in Vienna. The Shaolin Temple Austria is a member of the Shaolin Europe Association which was founded on September 1st, 2010 in Vienna.

Grand Master Shi Yan Liang directs the Shaolin Temple Austria. He was born in June 1978 in Yingshang, Anhui Province, People's Republic of China. In 1993 he went to the Shaolin Temple and learned Grand Master Shi Yongxin from the Abbot of the Shaolin Temple. He belongs to the 34th generation of Shaolin monks. In 2005 Shi Yan Liang was sent to Germany by Grand Master Shi Yong Xin to work as a monk and teacher in the Shaolin Temple in Germany . In 2007 Shi Yan Liang was sent to Austria to found the Shaolin Temple Austria.

Master Shi Yan Po belongs to the 34th generation of Shaolin monks. He was the leader of the Shaolin Martial Arts Show Group on their world tour. In 2011, Master Shi Yan Po was sent to Austria as a teaching trainer.

Work and goals

In the Shaolin Temple in Vienna, the Shaolin culture, as it has been practiced in China for 1500 years, is conveyed and continued. In addition to Buddhist pastoral care and authentic Shaolin ceremonies, courses in Buddhist meditation, Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Kung Fu are open to anyone interested in the Shaolin Temple Austria.

The aims of the temple include spreading the practice, culture and philosophy of Shaolin and promoting Buddhism in Austria. This includes in particular the teaching of chan Buddhist way of thinking and living, the martial arts Shaolin Kung Fu and Taijiquan , as well as Qigong , as well as meditation, traditional Chinese medicine and Shaolin calligraphy .
