Sharon Maguire

Sharon Maguire (* 1960 ) is a British film director.

Sharon Maguire studied English and Theater Studies at Aberystwyth University from 1979 to 1983 . During her postgraduate studies , she obtained the qualification to teach. She then took a degree in journalism at City University London .

She made her feature film debut in 2001, Bridget Jones - Chocolate for Breakfast , prior to which she directed several documentaries for the BBC . Her film The Godfather, about the American architect Philip Johnson , was included in the list of the best documentaries at the Montreal World Film Festival . Her documentary Rumer Godden: An Indian Affair was nominated for an International Emmy . The film Blown Apart followed in 2008 . In 2016 she re-directed Bridget Jones' Baby , the third installment in the Bridget Jones series of films.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.
