Blown Apart (Original Title: Incendiary ) is a British thriller from 2008 . Directed by Sharon Maguire , who also wrote the screenplay based on the 2005 novel by Chris Cleave of the same name . The following companies were involved in the production: Aramid Entertainment Fund , Archer Street Productions , Capitol Films , Film4 , Sneak Preview Films , UK Film Council , Wild Bear Films . The film was shown after its world premiere in Great Britain at the beginning of 2008 from January 20, 2008 at the Sundance Film Festival .

A young married woman lives with her husband Lenny and their son in simple circumstances in the East End of London. Lenny works for the explosives disposal squad and when he comes home, everyday life is sad. The young woman starts an affair with the journalist Jasper Black, who lives in the neighborhood. One day a suicide bomber bombed a London football stadium while the woman was sleeping with Jasper. During this time, her husband and son were in the stadium and died in the process. Gripped by feelings of guilt, she takes refuge in a dream world and mentally writes a letter to Osama bin Laden to deal with what happened. Meanwhile, Jasper determines that the attack could have been prevented because the people behind it were known. Pregnant by Jasper, the young woman finally decides to live, frees herself from her dream world and tells Osama in her letter that no bombs can stop life.

Reviews

The organizers of the Sundance Film Festival wrote that the film is a contemporary portrait of England that "cleverly interweaves tragedy, sex, politics and grief" . His direction shows "understanding" and "clarity" ; the portrayal of Michelle Williams is "great" .
