Chris Cleave (* 1973 in London ) is a British journalist and writer .

Chris Cleave grew up in Cameroon and Buckinghamshire . After studying psychology at Balliol College , Oxford , he is a. a. has worked as a barman, sea sailor and journalist, has taught marine navigation and founded an internet company.

His debut novel Incendiary (German title: Dear Osama ) appeared in 20 countries and was filmed with Michelle Williams and Ewan McGregor .

His second book The other Hand (German title: Little Bee ) was published in Great Britain in 2008 and was nominated for the Costa Book Awards . The following year it was released in the United States and Canada under the title Little Bee . The novel is being filmed with Nicole Kidman by Blossom Films in cooperation with BBC Films . The German translation jumped to 10th place on the Spiegel bestseller list in 2011.

Chris Cleave continues to write for the English daily newspaper The Guardian and lives in London with his wife and three children.
