Shcherbinina Island ( English ; Russian Остров Щербинина Ostrow Shcherbinina ) is an irregularly shaped and up to 43 m high island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It belongs to the group of the Rauer Islands and is 2.5 km southeast of Filla Island .
Scientists from a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it and named it in 1956. It was named after the Russian geologist Ekaterina Shcherbinina of the Russian Academy of Sciences . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated this designation into English.
