She's in Love with You is a song by Suzi Quatro . The fast rock song was released as a single in October 1979. The single became a top ten hit in many European countries. The cover version of Bernhard Brink , I would like to be like you , became known in German-speaking countries .
Origin and content
The song was written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman . The song is about a shy girl in love and appeals to her lover not to take advantage of her and treat her well: “Treat her right, treat her good, take her home and make her feel the way she should.” The rock song is also instrumented with keyboards and was produced by Mike Chapman in his typical sound.
Publication and reception
The single, released in October 1979 by RAK , contains Space Cadets as the B-side; however, the US and Canadian editions contained the song Starlight Lady . There is also a Portuguese version with Love Hurts as the B-side. The single reached number eleven in the British single charts and number eight in Germany as well as number four in Austria and number six in Switzerland . In the US, the single made it to number 41. The song also appeared on various compilations .
On December 31, 1979 , the band played the hit in the New Year's Eve edition of disco on ZDF , as well as in other television programs.
Version by Bernhard Brink
The song was covered a few times. The first German-language version comes from Bernhard Brink . Its version I would like to be as much as you with a text by René Marcard was produced by Thomas Meisel and was published in October 1979. The text is about a lover who believes in the seriousness and reliability of his “successor” - with whom he is friends praises his ex-girlfriend, whom he had not reached himself: “She hated this way of life / because she lacked the security, the stability / what she needs and what counts / she has now with you / and she has chosen well. This version reached number 19 in the German charts and was placed for 16 weeks.
