Sheela (actress)
Sheela ( Malayalam : ഷീല , born March 22, 1942 in Thrissur , Kerala ) is an Indian actress of the Malayalam film .
Career
She made her film debut in 1962 in Bhagya Jatakam under the direction of P. Bhaskaran . In the 1960s and 70s she played alongside Sathyan , Madhu and Prem Nazir . With the latter, she formed a long-term screen couple , they appeared together in more than 100 films.
One of the highlights of her career was the female lead in Ramu Kariat's color film Chemmeen (1965), which is considered a milestone in Malayalam cinema. She also tried herself as a director ( Sikharangal , 1979). After 1979 she was not active as a film actress for more than 20 years. She made a comeback in Manassinakkare (2003).
She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film Akale in 2005.
