Sheriff Misba Hydara ran in the 2008 regional elections as a candidate for the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) in the Lower Niumi constituency in the Kerewan Administrative Area . For the constituency of Medina Serign Mass, he won a seat on the Kerewan Area Council .

In the 2007 parliamentary election , Hydara ran as a candidate in the same constituency. With 72.72% he was able to win the constituency in front of the independent candidate Musa Sonko. Hydara did not stand as a candidate for the 2017 parliamentary election .
