The 2008 regional elections ( English 2008 Local Government Election ) in the West African state of Gambia took place on January 24, 2008.

Election to the city, municipality and regional councils

The regional elections included the city council elections for the Banjul City Council , municipal council elections for the Kanifing Municipal Council, and the regional council elections for the Basse Area Council , Brikama Area Council , Janjanbureh Area Council , Kerewan Area Council , Kuntaur Area Council and Mansakonko Area Council .

By-elections

Janjanbureh Area Council / Niamina East 2009

A by-election was scheduled for May 14, 2009 in the Kudang constituency ( Niamina East constituency ), Maku Ceesay (APRC) previously held the seat and died. Lamin Saraba Ceesay (APRC) was the only candidate to run for this seat on the regional council, he succeeded Ceesay.

Basse Area Council / Wulli West 2010

On October 28, 2010, a by-election was held in the Sare Ngai constituency ( Wulli West constituency ); Muhammed Barrow (APRC) was previously the owner of the seat. Alkally Kebbeh (APRC) succeeded Barrow.
