Omar Sompo Ceesay

Omar Sompo Ceesay is a Gambian politician.

Life

In February 2008, after the regional elections in Gambia at the end of January, he was accepted as a nominated regional council member in the Basse Area Council . In addition to him, Seyfu June Bah and Aja Kumba Korra were also nominated.

In the regional elections in Gambia in 2013 to let Omar Sompo Ceesay of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) in the Lower Administrative Area as a candidate for the constituency Basse in the constituency Basse of the Regional Council of the Upper River Division , the Basse Area Council set up. In the election on April 4, 2013, Ceesay was able to win the electoral district in front of his opponent Filly Susso as a candidate of the National Reconciliation Party (NRP). Ceesay became head of the Basse Area Council.

On November 28, 2013, Ceesay was appointed governor of the Upper River Region , succeeding Kanimang Sanneh . At the beginning of February 2017, the new government under Adama Barrow dismissed the governors, and Ceesay's successor was Fatou Jammeh-Touray in early March .
