The Shifodong Cave Site or Shifo Cave site ( Chinese  石佛 洞 遗址 , Pinyin Shífódòng yízhǐ , English Shifo Cave site ) is an approximately three thousand year old Neolithic site in the Autonomous County of Gengma of the Dai and Va of the prefecture of Lincang in the west of the Chinese Yunnan Province . The site is located 25 km south of Gengma on the banks of the Xiaohei Jiang River ( 小黑 江 ). The cave was created by a shift in the earth's crust . The finds discovered there show that plowing with oxen, rice cultivation , burning ceramics , fine stone tools, fine colored ceramics and fine modeling were known three thousand years ago and thus the finds belonged to the most advanced Neolithic culture in southwest China.

The Shifodong Cave Site has been on the List of Monuments of the People's Republic of China (4-18) since 1996 .
