El más fabuloso golpe del Far West is a spaghetti western from 1971, which did not experience any performance in the German-speaking world. The film, directed by José Antonio de la Loma , is one of the international co-productions with which the exhaustive genre has been tried to keep alive.

content

A group of seven outlaws plans to raid the Sun Valley Bank. The basic idea is to blow up the hallway of the bank by means of a ditch underneath in order to get to the safe. In order to practice and to distract, they blow up various buildings in the town. The carefully planned action, led by Michigan and Reyes, with strictly distributed tasks for each of the gang members, is going like clockwork. The attack succeeds, albeit with a lot of bloodshed, and everyone flees to the nearby snow-covered mountains. There, however, tensions begin to develop; soon one of the crooks tries to flee alone with the prey. In the resulting shootout, the horse packed with the money goes through and finds its way back to town. Reyes pursues it and upon arrival in Sun Valley is celebrated as a hero who supposedly brings back the stolen money.

criticism

The film achieved average reviews; the first part, which is reserved for the meticulous portrayal of the bank robbery, follows the laws of the Caper film and is judged to be “a bit overdone in these years” (seen too often at the time of creation); the second part is described as more atmospheric, although logic holes in the script and little action are diagnosed.

Others

The film song "They call it Gold" is interpreted by Don Powell .

International titles are and were: Nevada in Italy; Hold-up at Sun Valley in France; The boldest job in the West in English speaking countries.
