The Stokktind cargo ship series is a type of general cargo from the Rostock shipyard "Neptun".

The ships

The series was manufactured from 1965 to 1968 in 16 units for Norwegian accounts. The ships, which can be used as full-deck or open-deck, are intended primarily for the transport of general cargo, bulk cargo and timber loads.

The series included:

  • The first ship and namesake of the series was the Stokktind with hull number 503 , which was handed over on April 27, 1965. The Stokktind , based in Haugesund , has been sold and renamed several times, most recently in 1983 under the name Palmavera and is still in service.
  • Hanseatic
  • Brunette
  • The Gol was handed over in 1965 and has been operating under the name Altawfik Bellah since 1999 . She sank on 21 February 2001 in the Mediterranean Sea, south of the island of Lampedusa , in position 35 ° 8 '0 "  N , 12 ° 44' 8"  O .
  • The Jonika , which was completed in 1965, ran aground on March 29, 1987 before Baia , since 1983 again under her first name . In 1991 the wreck was recovered and demolished in Naples .
  • Jocefa
  • The 1966 in service Hanseatic sank on 21 May 2007 as Mariam Trans approximately twelve nautical miles southwest of the city of Porbandar in position 21 ° 28 '  N , 69 ° 24'  O .
  • Brunto
  • Recto
  • Fro
  • The end of the Joanita , which drove as Telana from 1970, was tragic . She capsized and sank in the Atlantic on August 5, 1977, at the position 49 ° 10 ′  N , 6 ° 45 ′  W , killing four sailors.
  • The career of Josusan , delivered in 1967 , ended with a loss of a ship . After a collision on June 25, 1982, she ran aground as Tibania about 8 nautical miles east of Cap Bougaroni and on July 17, 1982 at position 37 ° 42 ′ 44 ″  N , 8 ° 47 ′ 16 ″  O sank.
  • Hansa
  • Brunita
  • Ako
  • The end of the series, which was completely delivered to Norway , was the Jobella , which was delivered on May 24, 1968 and - last renamed Alex III in 1999 - is still in service.

Since, apart from the lost ships, only two ships were regularly canceled, an astonishingly large number of ships of this type is still in service due to their age.

technology

The ships were propelled by a 956 kW Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz RBV8M545 four-stroke diesel engine, which acted directly on a three-bladed fixed propeller with a diameter of 1.9 m.

The hulls are constructed in transverse frame construction and are made up of sections. From the seventh ship onwards, an extended variant of the Jobella type was built (78.70 m above all and 72.00 m between the perpendiculars). The living and working area is arranged in the aft deck superstructure made of seawater-resistant light metal. The life-saving appliances of the series were during construction, a motor and a rowing lifeboat, as well as a rigid life raft.

The two holds with a volume of 2658 m³ grain space and 2470 m³ ball space have intermediate decks with watertight smooth deck hatch covers, the cargo holds are locked sea-tight by McGregor single-pull hatch covers with quick-release fasteners.

The loading gear consists of four 5/3-ton loading booms , which can also be operated in coupled operation with an 8-ton cross-beam.
