Shimoji-jima ( Japanese 下地 島 ) is the neighboring island of Irabu-jima . It belongs to the Miyako Islands and is located in Okinawa Prefecture ( Japan ).

Shimoji-jima has an area of 9.68 km² and is relatively flat, with the cliffs in the west being up to 21.6 m high.
Shimoji-jima is separated from the neighboring island of Irabu-jima by a river-like crack and connected to it by six bridges.
Shimoji-shima Airport is located on it . Administratively, the island belongs to the district of Irabu of the Miyakojima municipality .
