Shin Angyo Onshi ( Kor. 신 암행 어사 , Revised : sin amhaeng eosa , Japanese 新 暗 行 御史 , Shin Angyō Onshi ) is a Manhwa by the author Youn In-wan and the illustrator Yang Kyung-il from 2001. That Factory was founded in 2004 as Anime - movie implemented.

In the great Jushin Empire there is a group of secret agents known as Angyo Onshi. They secretly control the activities of the provincial princes and help the people against injustices. But when the empire collapses, the princes gain power and the Angyo Onshi disappear.

The warrior Mun-Su ( 문수 ) moves on as Angyo Onshi through the country and helps the people. He particularly fights against exploitative princes and demons who plague the population. He meets the young warrior Chun Hyang ( 춘향 ), who accompanies him as Sando, protects him as such and stands by his side.

Origin and special features

The artists Youn In-wan and Yang Kyung-il first published their work themselves in South Korea , but for the first time in Japan with a major publisher. The story is also designed for the Japanese market, laid out in the Japanese reading direction and inspired by legends from Japan. Therefore, although the work is from Korea, it is often referred to as a manga rather than Manhwa .

Publications

The Manhwa appeared in Japan from 2001 to 2007 as a serialized story in the manga magazine Sunday Gene-X . The story was completed in 17 tankōbon (anthologies) published in Japan by Shōgakukan and in South Korea by Daiwon. A French translation has been published by Pika Édition.

Carlsen Manga published all 17 volumes in German. The translation is by Antje Bockel.

filming

In 2004, as Japanese studio produced Oriental Light and Magic and the Korean company Character plan a Anime - film for manhwa. Here led Joji Shimura director, Hideki Takahashi designed the character design and Shichiro Kobayashi took over the artistic direction. In 2004 the film was released in Japanese and South Korean theaters.

In 2005 the anime was shown for the first time in North America at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal under the title Phantom Master: Dark Hero from Ruined Empire .
