Project magnet

Project Magnet was a UFO research project started by the Department of Transport (DOT) on December 2nd, 1950. The project was under the direction of Wilbert B. Smith, a senior engineer in the then (DOT) Broadcast and Measurements Section. The project officially ran until mid-1954 and unofficially until the death of Wilbert B. Smith in 1962.

The station at that time was equipped with radio and radio monitoring devices, Geiger counters and cameras. On August 8, 1954, unusual signals were recorded. However, the cameras could not record anything due to fog. All results that could have contributed to the investigation were declared secret and have not yet been published.
