Dutch Games Award 2007: nominated

Shogun is a board game by Dirk Henn . It was released by Queen Games in 2006 and is played by three to five players from a recommended age of twelve. According to the manufacturer, a game lasts 90–120 minutes, but tends towards 240 minutes. Shogun was developed from the no longer available previous game Wallenstein by Dirk Henn from 2002.

Historical meaning of the name

The Shogun ruled Japan as an imperial general. From the Middle Ages to the 19th century, he was more powerful than the emperor in Japanese politics and is the namesake of this board game.

Furnishing

units
All units ( samurai ) and other game pieces are made of wood.
Dice tower
A special dice tower is used to determine the combat results , into which all combat units involved are thrown. All units that fall out of the bottom of the tower are considered surviving units of a battle and the one with the superior number of units decides the respective battle for himself.
Game board
The game board is printed on both sides, so you can choose between 2 different game worlds (sun and moon). The lunar side is a tactically more demanding variant due to a different classification of the provinces in regions and the distribution of sea routes.
