Shōji Aketagawa
Shōji Aketagawa ( Japanese 明 田 川 荘 之 , Aketagawa Shōji ; born October 23, 1950 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz pianist .
From the early 1970s Shoji Aketagawa worked in the Tokyo jazz scene, mostly with his own trio formations (including with Takashi Miyasaka ), as a soloist, in a duo with the alto saxophonist Hayashi Eiichi, as well as with Hiro Tsunoda and the Aketa Nishiogi Sentimental Philharmony Orchestra. The first recordings were made in 1974; The following year the album This Here Is Aketa, Vol. 1 (Offbeat), with Koichi Yamazaki (bass) and Takashi Miyasaka (drums). In the western part of Tokyo he opened the Aketa no Mise jazz club ( ア ケ タ の 店 ) and the associated record label Aketa's Disk , on which several live albums were released, such as Soto Wa Ii Tenki (1976), Magic Eye (1999) and Dai-Kanjo (2001 ). In the field of jazz he was involved in 39 recording sessions from 1974 to 2002.
