Shonen Knife ( Japanese 少年 ナ イ フ , Shōnen Naifu ) is a Japanese pop-punk group that was founded in December 1981 in Osaka . Their style is based on garage , alternative rock and punk , they see themselves influenced by girl groups of the 1960s and the Ramones . Shonen Knife are mainly known and successful in the USA, their lyrics are mainly in English. In 1993 you were the opening act for Nirvana at six concerts .
Drummer Mana Nishiura died on November 4, 2005 in a car accident.
