The Showbühne Mainz was a free and private theater in the former CC1 cinema on the Große Bleiche in Mainz .

The program mainly consisted of entertainment in the fields of cabaret , comedies , musicals , satires , cabaret and music . The hall held around 200 guests.

Since opening on May 1, 2006, the theater in the state capital has been directed by Daniela and Sebastian W. Wagner and, in addition to various in-house productions, also offered several independent theater groups a venue. On May 21, 2016, the tenth anniversary was celebrated in a specially designed revue.

The Showbühne Mainz was financed from its own resources and through advertising on flyers and in the program, but without government subsidies. For the musical "Backstage", which premiered in September 2016, there was a crowdfunding campaign for the first time.

As of December 31, 2016, the previously used rooms in the Große Bleiche had to be vacated. So far, no alternative locations have emerged.

In order to be able to continue the series of successful musicals, the support association Showbühne Musicals eV was founded on December 11, 2016 . This is to support future productions organizationally, personally and financially.
