Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery

The Shwe-Yan-Pyay Monastery is a Buddhist monastery complex near Nyaung Shwe north of Inle Lake in Myanmar .

The monastery was built at the end of the 19th century. The main building is made entirely of teak and is striking with its oval windows. It will u. a. used for school lessons for novices. The walls in the adjacent white-painted stone building were originally painted and adorned with extensive glass mosaics (partly with reverse glass painting ), which, however, are not well preserved. There is a small plaster Buddha in about 1700 small niches.
