The program is about a mixed group of American and Russian forest workers, around their boss Sean Vann, who want to make their fortune in the Siberian forests. The American Vann worked in Siberia as a lumberjack for 17 years. He now decides to start his own business there and flies to his old home in Montana to look for well-trained forest workers who want to work for him in Russia . Since the logging industry in the USA has been increasingly shattered since the 1980s, four men finally join him and fly to Siberia. But the disillusionment with easy money sets in when they are quartered in a completely desolate accommodation on their arrival and have to struggle with the arctic cold climate. When they are picked up by Vann the next day, they are introduced to the other forest workers; a group consisting of three Russians, including a mechanic. After initial skepticism on both sides, language barriers, internal disputes and different ways of working, a well-coordinated team is slowly forming. It is a supposedly lucrative order from a forest landowner, a former Soviet colonel, to pull ashore.
To do this, the team first has to fell a test plot of land to prove their quality of work, in order to be allocated a larger area for felling after successful completion. The estimated total value of the entire forest area is the equivalent of US $ 500,000, of which Sean and his team could earn a quarter. But shortly before the American team members leave and say goodbye to their beloved Russian colleagues, Vann arrives with the bonus and shares it with his team. Finally, after three months of working together, the group separates and decides to stay in touch and work together in the future.
