Siddhartha Kaul (born September 21, 1954 in Pilani , Rajasthan , India ) has been President of SOS Children's Villages International since July 2012 .

biography

Kaul studied architecture in Ahmedabad -Gujrat and liberal arts at Delhi University . He speaks English and Hindi as well as some Sinhala and Kashmiri .

His ties to the SOS organization can be traced back to his childhood in India. Here his father founded the first SOS Children's Village in India in 1964 after meeting the founder of the organization, Hermann Gmeiner .

Kaul's career in the organization, which has now spanned almost 40 years, began in 1978 when he was appointed director of the SOS Children's Village in Chennai , South India. Since then, he has served the organization in a variety of roles, both in a supportive and advisory capacity. He set up SOS Children's Villages in Sri Lanka and led the reconstruction of the organization in Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia after conflicts in the region. He was also responsible for the largest emergency program to date, which SOS Children's Villages started in 2004 in response to the tsunami in the Indian Ocean.

As deputy general secretary for the SOS Kinderdorf Region Asia from 2001 to 2012, he was already a member of the Senior Management Team of SOS Kinderdorf International and made a significant contribution to the strategy processes of the time.

Kaul was elected President of SOS Kinderdorf International in June 2012 and was re-elected for a second four-year term in June 2016.

President of SOS Children's Villages International

The president of SOS Children's Villages International is the chairman of the federation consisting of 117 member organizations and supports them in their uniform orientation and cohesion. He chairs the International Senate and advocates a common goal for the Senate, Management Council and Management Team. He also plays an important representative role of the Federation, both internally and externally.

As President, his focus remains on the significant interaction both with the families in the SOS Children's Villages and families in SOS parent-child living programs and those in intensive family support.

He firmly believes that “no child should grow up alone” and “that the success and scope of our work is reflected in what the young people in our programs achieve in their lives”.
