The Siebert Sie 3 is a single-seat glider manufactured by the aircraft manufacturer Paul Siebert .

history

The previous version, the Ka 6 CR , was manufactured under license by Paul Siebert. When Schleicher refused the license for the Ka 6 E, Paul Siebert decided to have you 3 developed by the designer Wilhelm Kürten. The aircraft was built in 27 copies between 1970 and 1975. Most of the last build numbers were sold as kits, many of which went to the Netherlands . In Germany there are still 6 approved you 3.

construction

The Siebert Sie 3 was a standard class (later Club class ) aircraft with a wingspan of 15 m and a single, non-retractable wheel. The design is based on the Schleicher Ka 6 in the Ka 6 E version, but has a more swept tail unit with pendulum elevator. The cockpit hood is designed to be pluggable, although later at least two aircraft were converted to folding hoods. The aircraft is a cantilever high- wing aircraft with a conventional horizontal stabilizer as a pendulum rudder . The real difference to the Ka 6 E is the more arrow-shaped tail unit and the longer retracted hood. There were two prototypes that had a round nose and a smaller setting angle . The Sie 3 has a design feature of the then new rectangular trapezoidal wing with Wortmann profile (FX61-184).
