Settlement of Thisted

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bronze Age settlement of Thisted is located between Tingstrupvej in the north and Dragsbaek Stadion in the south, not far from Langdysser von Thisted on Langdyssevej near the old water tower of Thisted , in Thy in Denmark .

In addition to the long hill , there were several round hills here, only Drengshøj has survived. During the investigation of a new development area in 2004 and 2005 traces from the Bronze Age were discovered. Large houses from the Middle Bronze Age have been found both at Drengshøj and at Landlyst. The soil layer was plowed, but the post holes were 6 to 7 m wide and up to 33 m long. The doors, exterior and partition walls were clearly visible. People lived with their animals under one roof. At the eastern end there were traces of stable boxes. The largest of the houses at Landlyst was about 230 square meters. The houses at Drengshøj and Landlyst share features. Among other things, there are two entrances in the same long side of the houses, which is rare. In Forsand (Forsandmoen) in Rogaland in southern Norway , 3000 year old Bronze Age houses with two doors on one long side were also found.
