Siegbert Janko (* January 30, 1945 in Freistadt , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian jurist and former cultural director at the magistrate of Linz.

Life

Siegbert Janko graduated from the Episcopal Teachers Training College in Linz in 1964 . Then he worked as a teacher in Liebenstein and with the school brothers in Vienna and was a home educator at the HTL Mödling . In addition to his job, he studied law. From 1976 to 1986 Siegbert Janko was head of the humanities and social sciences department at the Adult Education Center in Linz, and has been deputy head since 1979. From 1986 to 1990 he was head of the cultural office of the city of Linz. From 1990 to March 2010 Janko was cultural director of the city of Linz and headed the culture, education and sport business group. He was replaced in this function by the German specialist Julius Stieber.

Siegbert Janko was responsible, among other things, for the Linzer Pflasterspektakel , the LinzFest, the establishment of the Ars Electronica Center and the application for Linz 2009 - European Capital of Culture .
