The Victory Square ( Belarusian Плошча Перамогі ; Ploschtscha Peramohi ) is a place in the Belarusian capital Minsk .
Until it was renamed in 1954, the Siegesplatz was still called Runder Platz. In the same year, an obelisk with a height of 40 meters was erected on the square to commemorate the fallen of the Great Patriotic War . Four scenes are engraved at the foot of the monument:
- Victory Day on May 9, 1945
- The partisans of Belarus
- Honor the fallen hero
- The Soviet Army during the Great Patriotic War years .
On July 3, 1961, an Eternal Flame was added to the ground in front of the monument.
Under the square, within a ring-shaped pedestrian passage, is a memorial hall, which was opened on the 40th anniversary of the Victory in 1985 and has memorial plaques on a wall with the names of 566 people who died during the war.
