Siegfried Franz (born July 24, 1944 in Kunzendorf ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He played for BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

In his youth, Franz played for BSG Chemie Schwarzheide from 1954 to 1964 . He then worked for ASG Vorwärts Cottbus for three years before moving to BSG Energie Cottbus in 1968, which played in the second-rate GDR league. In his first season he came in 1967/68 on 15 missions and 1968/69 even on 27. In 1969 Franz was obliged by BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt, which had been promoted to the GDR league. In the season 1969/70 he came to two missions before Eisenhüttenstadt relegated again. In 1972 Franz returned to Energie Cottbus. After nine games in the GDR league and inserts in the promotion round, he made the leap into the GDR league with Cottbus. There he came to 21 missions in the 1973/74 season . After the direct relegation, he only came to five games. 1975 Franz joined the BSG Empor HO Cottbus , where he ended his career 1,981th

Franz was a player coach during his time at Empor. Even after that, he worked for several clubs as an assistant or goalkeeper coach and as head coach for youth teams.
