Siegfried Kiesskalt

Siegfried Kiesskalt (born May 5, 1897 in Nuremberg ; † September 13, 1977 ) was a German process engineer .

life and work

Kiesskalt studied mechanical engineering at the TH Munich , where he graduated in 1922. This was followed by a job as an engineer at MAN and Leistritz in Nuremberg. In 1924 he went to the TH Karlsruhe as an assistant at the machine laboratory and did his doctorate in 1926. After almost 20 years of industrial activity, initially for a short time at Deutsche Shell, later at Hoechst and five years of self-employment as the owner of an engineering office, he got one in 1951 Lecturer at the TH Braunschweig . In 1957 he accepted a position at RWTH Aachen University and set up the Institute for Process Engineering.

Kiesskalt was a member of numerous scientific-technical associations and u. a. Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Industrial Research Working Group (AIF). From 1933 to 1937 he was a board member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). In addition to Emil Kirschbaum, Kiesskalt had a lasting influence on the development of process engineering in Germany and received numerous prizes and awards. Among other things, he was awarded the DECHEMA medal and the VDI ring of honor in gold. Kiesskalt is one of the first to be awarded the VDI Ring of Honor.
