Erich Kothe

Erich Kothe (born July 15, 1883 in Metz , † November 14, 1962 in Cologne ) was a German engineer . He was instrumental in rebuilding the Association of German Engineers (VDI) after the Second World War .

Life

Erich Kothe studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Hanover from 1902 to 1908 . From 1911 to 1913, after three years of training, he worked as a government master builder at the Gdansk Railway Directorate and at the mechanical engineering office of the Königsberg hydraulic engineering administration. After the outbreak of the First World War , he initially served as adjutant and battery leader in Poland . He later worked as a technical director and member of the board at Gothaer Waggonfabrik in Gotha .

Erich Kothe campaigned for the establishment of REFA , where he took over the management in 1933. In 1936 he became one of four managing directors of the VDI under Conrad Matschoss and in 1950 he became its director. He resigned from this office on August 31, 1955.
