Siegfried Oechsle

Siegfried Oechsle (* 1956 ) is a German musicologist .

Life

Oechsle studied musicology, art history and philosophy at the universities of Kiel and Copenhagen, 1985 MA at the University of Kiel with his studies on the early symphonic work of Niels W. Gades . He then worked as a research assistant at the Musicological Institute. In 1989 he received his doctorate with the work Symphonik nach Beethoven: Studies on Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Gade .

After his habilitation in 1995 ( Bach's work on the strict sentence: studies on cantatas ) he was first assistant professor, then from 1999 professor of musicology at the University of Copenhagen (successor to John Bergsagel). In 2001 he was offered the chair for musicology as full professor for musicology at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (successor Friedhelm Krummacher ). He has been a full member of the Academia Europaea since 2011 .
