Walter Salmen

Walter Salmen (born September 20, 1926 in Paderborn ; † February 2, 2013 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German musicologist and university professor .

Act

Salmen taught from 1958 to 1992 as a professor of musicology at Saarland University in Saarbrücken and Kiel University . Afterwards he was full professor at the Musicological Institute of the University of Innsbruck for many years . He has also worked as a guest in Switzerland , Israel and the USA . After his retirement he lived in Kirchzarten near Freiburg im Breisgau and worked as an honorary professor at the University of Freiburg .

Salmen's first marriage was to the psychologist Margarete Salmen (born Marx, born September 7, 1918, † October 17, 1979), and his second marriage was to the flautist and musicologist Gabriele Busch-Salmen .
