Siemens RM series

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The RM series was a series of computer models with a MIPS processor from Siemens-Nixdorf .

The RM series was originally developed by the US company Pyramid Technology , which was taken over by Siemens AG in 1995. The first models appeared in 1993, Siemens-Nixdorf continued the systems until 1998. The in-house Unix derivative SINIX served as the operating system, but at times there was also a port of Windows NT (3.5, 3.51 and 4.0) for these computers.

The RM series includes:

  • RM200: workstations
  • RM300: small server
  • RM400: middle class server
  • RM600: high performance server

A number of supercomputers , the RM1000, were discontinued after the takeover of Pyramid Technology by Siemens-Nixdorf.

The Linux distribution Linux / MIPS supports some models of the RM series.
