Siemens S10
The Siemens S10 is a mobile phone from Siemens Mobile introduced in 1997 . It was the first mobile phone in the world to have a display capable of displaying colors.
properties
The device supports GSM 900 (P-GSM) and can therefore only be used in Germany in the D networks . It also records audio sequences up to 20 seconds long, has an integrated soft modem and has a battery life of 10 hours (telephony) or 100 hours (standby) with a weight of 185 g. 16 monophonic ring tones are preinstalled, and the S10 is also capable of SMS . The slot for the SIM card is a slide-out slide ( SIM tray ) that is used more often in later smartphones (e.g. the iPhone ). A fixed antenna is attached to the upper edge of the housing.
There is also an S11 that works in the GSM-1800 band.
Display
On 5 lines or 97 × 54 = 5,238 pixels, the dot-matrix display of the S10 can show text and graphics in the three colors red, blue and green in parallel, a novelty at the time of publication. The background surface is (unlike today) not kept in a neutral shade of white , but always colored brown-green. There is also a switchable light green background lighting.
